So - did you know that Dinosaurs are not just for the National History Museum? Did you know that you can buy one to make rings and things with? No? Neither did I - until I found this in my Collector Cabs Shop - it's a real live tiny portion of a long dead Dino - with Red Agate growing between the cells - fossilized - and now set in a sterling bezel, with a wide punched band - I still think it belongs to another age - before the Industrial Revolution - when Jane Eyre was being dreamt up, or when Northanger Abbey was still a mere twinkle in Jane Austen's eye...
I am retreating from the technology gadget race...I have not replaced my mobile phone for four years - I still like it, it doesn't slip out of my hand when I use it and has buttons to press- I do not crave a huge TV, (mine is a scant 22 inches and a pretty white), MP3, i-anything or even the social networking thingy....I do try with twitter - but for goodness sake, it's all so "in your face" I can not keep up with it - I am getting old, set-in-my-ways, comfy (especially around the middle), and you know what? I know what I like! Finally - after years of teenage, twenty-something, thirty-something - whattheheckisgoingonwithmylife - angst, I am learning to know what I like and practising how to ask for it. Life certainly can begin again in your fortysomethings...though I do not quite feel like a Dinosaur yet, after all I am blogging and have an online store, I can send an email with attachments, I am getting to grips with an SLR (though it is second hand and 7 years old), I shop online, bank online and miss my computer after a few days of self inflicted rationing....but I am reading books (not kindles) and writing in my journal as well as here, forming poems, knitting, sewing, cooking, walking outdoors (no more treadmill for me), and cherishing the people I love.
Shopping for gifts always makes me realise how much I ought to give - and not only the wrapped up thingys (though they are lovely).
Love and cosy thoughts for you all today - wrap up it's going to be a cold one!
