Jane Campion is an artist I greatly admire - her medium is film, her palette is light - her touch is light but intense and I adore "The Piano" - so how is it that I have not seen "Bright Star" until last night??
It is stunningly beautiful - I could watch the film on mute - and still weep copious tears!
I immediately ordered it on DVD and then discovered that she has directed "A Portrait of a Lady"!!
So - I ordered that too!!
It might have come in handy when I was wading through all the waffling detail in my Book Club Read...
Remember Figs and Henry James?
Oh I am transported to the last Century - I am yearning for sharp needles, embroidery silks and hand woven cotton or linen...
I have two very smelly vats of cabbage dye relegated to the very back of the garden - one is blue (with vinegar added) and the other mauve - there are a couple of samples stewing away with cotton yarn and fabric. I have no more white wool left.
I am amassing a vast quantity of hand dyed small balls of wool - I want to weave them into fair-isle details on cuffs or collars next Winter. (Well that is the plan!)
Have a slow working, slow cooking, slow sewing, slow reading weekend....
